Data is all the information you use on your computer, documents, pictures and settings. Generally the programs installed on your computer can be reinstalled, either from CD/DVD or downloaded. More importantly are the files and folders you create and save on the local hard drive of the computer. Ensure this important data is in a secondary location - yes backing up, and preferably in more than one location.
